  • Myddelton House Gardens | Lee Valley Regional

Information updates Myddelton House Gardens Detailed below you’ll find the latest updates which may affect your visit to us for Myddelton House Gardens and the Bowles Tea Room. If you have any specific queries please contact us . Ornamental pond (updated 21/08/25) You may notice the encroachment of reeds in the ornamental pond at Myddelton House Gardens. The water level has dipped due to the hot dry summer and the shallow water has created a thriving environment for aquatic plants to grow. We also believe the pond has a leak in the liner and we are currently investigating this. The vegetation is currently providing wildlife habitat for birds and other wildlife and will do so until later in the autumn. We are taking expert advice and will be working on a plan for the pond's restoration at an appropriate time when resources and funding are available and when there will be minimal disturbance to wildlife. Staff and volunteers are currently dedicating considerable time to the restoration of the Rock Garden, E A Bowles' favourite part of the gardens, and works here are expected to be complete in the autumn. Thank you for your patience. Restoring the Rock Garden – summer 2025 (Updated 26/06/25) Currently the Rock Garden isn’t in its best condition and as it is about to undergo a restoration project. We’re excited to announce the restoration work in the rock garden will begin middle of July. The first phase will be the ponds being re-lined and water back in them after a considerable absence. We would like to thank all visitors that donated to this project and your kind donations have made this possible.

  • Bewitched | Lee Valley Regional

< Back Bewitched bw3.jpg BW23.jpg BW2.jpg bw3.jpg 1/23 Narrowboat Unknown 55ft 1991 £85,000 For Sale Contact the owner Ged Shaw 07810058911 gerardshaw@outlook.com Bewitched is a traditional narrowboat for sale with a mooring in the picturesque Springfield Marina on the Borders of Hackney and Walthamstow. Springfield Marina is on the River Lee between Walthamstow Marshes and Springfield Park so you are surrounded by greenery. The Marina is secure with fob regulated access and has all the facilities you could need including a workshop, chandlery, modern toilet block, washing machines and best of all a friendly community run bar which is one of the cheapest in London. Mooring is £571 a month Bewitched is moored on a pontoon attached to the island in the middle of the marina, accessible by a fixed floating pontoon. She has lovely lies and glides through the water with ease. The boat has undergone extensive renovations since it was purchased just over a year ago. The boat had been sadly neglected by the previous owner and since purchase has had extensive work carried out to bring her to her former glory. The engine bay and cratch area have been completely stripped back to metal and repainted, the seating area in the cratch has been renewed in the large seating area at the front and a new canopy has been installed along with a new frame and fixed windows at the front.. The boat is of an unusual design at the front in that it has a full height seating area, unlike the typical arrangement that have a water tank under the front deck and draining scuppers, this allows the front of the boat to be used as an extra seating area. The windows on the boat are port hole type windows which are great for security and privacy when you are out cruising. These were removed cleaned and refitted prior to painting the exterior of the boat. The boat is heated by a a Squirrel stove which is in fantastic condition and a brand new flue and chimney collar have been fitted when the boat was being renovated. The interior is very traditional toungue and grove pine cladding with plywood beneath the gunnels. The flooring has also been replaced with solid wood flooring throughout the boat The boat is connected to shore power and has a selection on of 230v sockets and 12v sockets throughout the boat. The 230V circuit has been redone with new artic cable and additional sockets installed along with an electric towel heater for the bathroom. The boat is currently in the process of being finished off with a number of small jobs to be completed prior to the intended sale including fitting an inverter and new bilge pump There is a hull survey for Bewitched which was completed when the boat was out of the water in 2023. This shows that the hull is in good condition apart from the engine bay which will need attention at some point. A brand new weed hatch was fitted at a cost of £3500 by7 the marina but the uxter plate will require overplating/replacing when it is next taken out of the water. This will cost the region of £1500 to £2000 (Price obtained from Stanstead Aboots marina) and can be done when the boat is next out of the water to be blacked. This has been reflected in the price the boat has been advertised for. The survey can be transfered to the buyer for a small additional cost should this be required The boat has a reverse layout with the bedroom at the far end of the boat infront of the engine bay There is a bathroom with shower sink and casette toilet. There is a small galley kitchen with a new lpg cooker which opens onto the spacious living area There is a lengthy lounge at the front of the boat with a Squirrel wood burner in excellent condition which has a brand new flue and roof collar The front cratch area is covered by a brand new Cratch cover and provides additional seating area at the same level as the rest of the boat. Constructed of steel with a 6mm base plate and sides Top is steel construction with traditional porthole windows The windows have all been removed and refitted prior to the boat being painted Previous Next
