Stepping out around Sewardstone
Date: 14 July
Time: 11:00
Location: Gunpowder Park
FREE
This months walk explores the transformed, exciting Gunpowder Park where people, wildlife and art coexist in a peaceful environment.
An ex MOD site Gunpowder Park was closed to the public for over 100 years and was shrouded in mystery. Secret testing went on behind security fences until the Lee Valley Regional Park converted the site into a public space.
Walkers love this area due to the network of all-weather paths and this will be a summer walk that is easy to complete in a rural and farmland setting. Land forms demonstrate the history of the site and merge with art in the park.
The walk will also take you down to and around Sewardstone Marsh taking in one of the last remaining bits of wet woodland in the valley.
The site is also excellent for wildlife. Look out for Owl boxes as you go round and information on the night time creatures.
