A linear route linking Cheshunt station to the wetlands of River Lee Country Park. Discover more about the waterbirds of the Lee Valley including their habitats, feeding behaviours and the amazing journeys they have made. From Cheshunt Station the route heads north past Seventy Acres to the Grebe Hide overlooking Holyfield Lake. The route returns the same way.



Directions

  • Exit the car park through the walk-around and take the surfaced path to the right, marked with the first of four waterbird information panels

  • Turn right, at the north end of Cheshunt Lake, onto Cadmore Lane, proceeding over the metal bridge crossing the Small River Lee. The North Metropolitan Viewing area is located on the other side of the bridge

  • Proceed along Cadmore Lane, between North Metropolitan Pit and Cheshunt Lake

  • Cross the bridge over the River Lee Navigation and turn left, heading north along the west side of Seventy Acres Lake

  • At the northern end of the lake, bear to the left, continuing along this path with the Old River Lee on your right

  • Continue on the pathway, turn right over the metal bridge crossing the river

  • Turn left at the path junction and continue along the east side of the river to a small fisherman’s car park

  • Proceed to the left of the car park, continuing north along the path signposted to the Grebe Hide

  • From the Grebe Hide retrace the route back to the Cheshunt Country Walk car park
