A circular wetland route around Silvermeade. Discover our ‘Wind in the Willows’, home of the Lee Valley Water Vole.



Directions

  • From Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows car park, proceed under the railway bridge and turn right in a south direction down the towpath

  • Turn right through the kissing gate onto Silvermeade, and continue along the grass path, parallel to the railway line

  • Cross over the wide wooden bridge, proceeding through the field / kissing gate

  • Turn immediately right, through the wooden gate and proceed across the narrow wooden bridge over the ditch

  • Continue on the grass pathway, bearing to the left and proceed over the bridge and through a kissing gate

  • Turn right, following the grass pathway, with the ditch on the right

  • Proceed through the kissing gate, exiting Silvermeade and turn left onto the towpath

  • Continue north, turning left under the railway bridge returning back to the car park

Things to note

  • Public transport links:

    • The closet station is Broxbourne – 5 minutes away from starting point

    • Buses run along Nazeing New Road and the B176 which is short distance from the train station

  • Car parking charges apply at Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows car park

  • Cattle graze this site during the summer – please keep dogs on leads when the cattle are there
