What colours can you see? How does it feel? Look out for the different tree shapes, touch the tree barks to find different textures. Spot Waltham abbey and describe the shape of the building. Listen out for the chiming of bells. Can you spot mosaics on the path, what colours can you sport? Feel the different textures Touch the building to find out if it is smooth or rough feeling? Notice the wind rustling through the trees. Can you hear running water? Can you see anything reflecting in the water? Perhaps close your eyes and notice and feelings or memories that the sounds bring up for you. Look out for variety of birds on the water. Take a moment to feed ducks. Due to investment made by Waltham Forest Local Authority, schools based in the borough of Waltham Forest can enjoy this programme free of charge, with bookings available on a first come first served basis. All you need to bring is suitable outdoor clothing, footwear, a packed lunch with water and plenty of enthusiasm. Hot drinks, tools and training are provided. Please bring your own mug and work gloves (if you have them) to reduce the likelihood of spreading Covid-19. What happens on the day? The Rangers will be at the meeting place at 10:00. They'll give you an introduction to the site and project and show you how to use the tools safely. The projects are normally completed by 15:00. Most people stay all day but any time you can spare will certainly help to make a difference! Please note: every effort is made to ensure that the programme will remain unchanged, however due to unforeseen circumstances this may not always be possible. Please confirm your attendance at the task within a minimum of 48 hours in advance or we cannot guarantee a place on the day. Booking is essential, you can book a place via our volunteers database.
