IAKS UK and Ireland: Lee Valley venues tour

The one day event on is a chance to hear from architects, operators and front line staff about how four very different venues deliver a blend of community and commercial returns.

As with all IAKS UK and Ireland activities, the aim of the day is to share the latest thinking on sport, leisure and physical activity, and to network with peers across the industry.

You’ll see how Lee Valley Regional Park Authority is dealing with many of the same challenges that venues everywhere face:

• Leisure and activity needs are changing fast – so how do you keep your offer relevant in buildings conceived 20 years ago?

• How can you balance vital community access with the need to hit a positive bottom line?

• How do you make sure design and other lessons learnt from previous projects make their way into new centres and activities?

Delegates will learn how the venues were designed, how they are evolving to remain relevant, attractive and responsive to the many communities they serve, how they work financially and operationally and how funding models are changing.

The tour begins at Lee Valley VeloPark in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford before moving onto nearby Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Lee Valley Ice Centre and Lee Valley Athletics Centre, closing with drinks in Stratford.
