Update 27/10/23
Toilets at Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows are currently CLOSED. This is due to problems with the sewers serving the toilet block. They'll remain closed until repairs have been carried out, at the moment we cannot provide a date when they'll be reopened.
Update 19/10/23
The path at the north end of Bowyers Water, River Lee Country Park, (What3Words - ///learn.banks.sugars) is closed until spring. This is due to the condition of the path and works not being able to start until the spring. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Update 12/10/23
We are extremely disappointed to have just found out that Network Rail has postponed work scheduled for this week which would have stopped the flooding at Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows and its car park.
We have been pressuring them to clear a blockage in a tunnel under the railway track at Broxbourne which has caused flooding for several years.
We have been doing everything in our power to ensure the work would be done and had been working with National Rail on ways that the blockage could be cleared carefully without damaging wildlife habitats. The work was originally planned for October 2022, was postponed to April this year and was then due to start today (Thursday 12 October).
The flooding prevents people visiting the park and using local businesses, especially the café, every winter. Each year the flooding worsens and has severely damaged the meadow, trees and a boardwalk. It’s imperative that it is cleared as quickly as possible.
We are in touch with Network Rail to find out why their plans have suddenly changed and to secure a new date for the works.
We will share information as we have it, but in the meantime If you’d like to discuss this please contact Network Rail on 03457 114 141 or online networkrail.co.uk/communities/contact-us
Update 29/09/23
Bridge closure near Hall Marsh Scrapes in River Lee Country Park. What3Words location: reward.leaps.ramp. Please note the bridge on the path between Showground and Hall Marsh Scrapes is currently closed for inspection and repair - alternative routes avoiding this bridge are available.
Update 10/03/23
Works update on the flooding in Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows car park. This is being caused by a blocked ditch and culvert which normally allows the water to drain from the meadows. The blockage is on land owned by Network Rail who are responsible for clearing it. Unfortunately Lee Valley Regional Park is unable to do anything to alleviate the issue. Network Rail, who need to do the works, which involve closing the railway line, had planned works for March 2023. Unfortunately, we’ve been advised that these works have been delayed and are now planned for September 2023. If you’d like to discuss this please contact Network Rail on 03457 114 141 or online at networkrail.co.uk/communities/contact-us. We apologise for the inconvenienced caused.
Update 03/01/23
Hooks Marsh car park is partially closed due to work being undertaken for National Aviation Fuel Line, which is part of a national infractructure project. There's a temporary car park on Fishers Green Lane or you can alternatively park at Fishers Green car park.
Toilet update - 01/11/22
The toilets at Fishers Green and Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows are open. The toilets at Pindar and Dobbs Weir remain closed
