New Lee Valley Ice Centre has passed its first planning hurdle! Thank you for your help!
Plans have been approved for the all-new Lee Valley Ice Centre, which would offer world class sports facilities and unlock opportunities for the community to engage in a wide range of activities.
The decision made on Tuesday 6 October by Waltham Forest’s Planning Committee comes after a consultation found huge appetite among the community and other interest groups for a new Lee Valley Ice Centre to be built on the site of the current single pad venue in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton. The project is defined as a strategic planning application and has now also been approved by the Mayor of London.
We want to thank everyone for the support you have shown for the plans for the new ice centre. Everyone who has got involved and provided feedback has contributed towards the success of the application.
We know the centre means a lot to both regular users and the local community. We are thrilled that this vital asset is a huge step closer to being secured for the future and that we will be able to reach more people and offer more activities at the centre. A ten-year community programme will ensure that the new venue opens up access to physical activity for local groups and schools.
We’ll be in touch soon with further information regarding the next steps for the project and the plan to deliver the new centre. In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Lee Valley Ice Centre Community Relations Team at LVIC@communitycomms.co.uk
