Icy Excursion on the Marshes
Date: 14 January
Location: Walthamstow Marshes
Join us for a walk to warm yourself up this January taking in our new state of the art Lee Valley Ice Centre and some of our most important green spaces.
Lee Valley Ice Centre was rebuilt and reopened in 2023 and with two Olympic sized rinks giving everyone the chance to get on the ice. You can find out more about the venue here.
On your walk, you will take in the surrounding marshes that include habitats such as Reedbeds, meadows and woodlands (including South Marsh of Walthamstow Marshes, a Site of Special Scientific Interest) which are all home to many species of plants and animals.
The length of this walk is roughly 8km (5 miles) and can take up to 2 hours
Part of this walk is along unsurfaced footpaths and there are some steps and slopes and is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. We recommend waterproof footwear as this area is prone to flooding.
Part of this walk is next to water
The meeting point for this walk is The WaterWorks Centre down Lammas Road which is just off the Lea Bridge Road opposite the Lee Valley Riding Centre
