A Walk in the Park - WaterWorks Filter Beds and Hackney Marshes
Join us to explore the Filter Beds and marshes around the WaterWorks Centre.
The WaterWorks Centre is a great place to either relax or explore our nature reserve on the site of the old Essex Filter Beds. See what you can spot in the wildlife garden, see the willow dome and head to the filter beds and bird watch from the hides.
The walk will take in Hackney Marshes and Hackney Wick following the Navigation back up to the Middlesex Filter Beds where you can find out how this site helped to stop the Cholera outbreaks that occurred in London from the 1830's to the 1860's.
Returning over Friends Bridge you will walk along the back of the old golf course to the WaterWorks Centre to finish the walk. If you fancy a drink or something to eat, the WaterWorks Centre Cafe is open from 10:00 - 18:30.
This is a relatively long walk and will last between 2 and 3 hours
Bring some water and snacks to keep you going
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead
Make sure you wear suitable and comfortable clothing for the walk
