Walthamstow BioBlitz : Springtime Bird Walk

Join our rangers on a morning guided bird walk taking in the Old Filter beds and Walthamstow Marshes. This event is part of a series of nature walks where participants will be encouraged to record their wildlife sightings and contribute to the London City Nature Challenge 2019.

Essential info

  • The meeting point for this walk will be outside The WaterWorks Centre, Lammas Road, Off Lea Bridge Road, E10 7QB. Parking is free

  • If you have a pair of binoculars bring them along

  • The site may be wet underfoot so please wear wellies or waterproof boots

  • We would advise that this event is suitable for adults and interested children from 8+ are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult

  • Due to steps and steep slopes you will need to be reasonably mobile to follow the route

  • If possible please download the FREE iNaturalist app in advance so you can record your observations over the weekend.

Getting here

By train: the nearest stations are Clapton on the Liverpool Street line (10 minutes walk) or Lea Bridge station, located between Stratford and Tottenham Hale (5 minute walk)

By bus: routes 48, 55 and 56 stop on Lea Bridge Road (outside  Lee Valley Ice Centre)

By car: there is a car park the WaterWorks Centre, Lammas Road, Off Lea Bridge Road, E10 7QB. Parking is free
