A Walk in the Park - Nazeing Meads Ramble
Join us for a ramble across Nazeing Meads for this session of the 50th Anniversary “A Walk in the Park” programme.
Starting at Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows car park you will hear about the remains of the mill. The route will take you near the Lee Valley Boat Centre and St Agustine’s Church before hearing about how a bridge that spans a county boundary was looked after by the two separate councils!
You will then discover Rushymead before winding your way past the old airfield site at Nazeing Meads hearing about exciting new projects here. Over Horseshoe Weir you will find three large lagoons and learn about these ex gravel extraction pits and how gulls use them to roost in the winter for safety from predators.
Discovering the new Plotlands Project and the Almost Wild Camp site the walk will bring you back round to Carthagena Lock before the final stretch back to Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows taking in wildflower meadows, woodlands and you will have hopefully had a walk with a delightful sense of tranquillity.
