A Walk in the Park - West Essex Ramblers and the Filter Beds

With over 500 varieties of plants and one of quarter of Britain's butterfly species this area is a gem. The WaterWorks nature reserve has become a unique wildlife haven just miles from central London.

Top tips

  • Please wear suitable clothing as trails can get muddy and it can be cold this time of year

  • Bring some water and snacks to keep you going - we will stop for a coffee break

  • Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead

  • Meeting point at Lee Valley Ice Centre

  • Please ensure you arrive on time

Getting here

By train: the nearest train station is Lea Bridge or Clapton on the Liverpool Street line (both 10 minute walk)

By bus: buses 48, 55 and 56 stop on Lea Bridge Road outside Lee Valley Ice Centre

By car: Lee Valley Ice Centre is just off the A104 Lea Bridge Road. There’s a large car park but please note this is chargeable
