In 2008 the Fisheries Section embarked on a similar project to the adjacent Banjo Lake with Stock Pit.
The Fisheries Task Force completed a range of work including tree pollarding, the creation of habitat piles, two major Siltex applications and the rebuilding of eight double swims and a boardwalk that links them together including two swims that are suitable for use by anglers with disabilities.
At just under two acres in size, this picturesque and mature gravel pit is now open as a Day-Night ticket fishery integral to the Lee Valley Regional Parks portfolio of venues for anglers.
The Lake’s stock of approximately 20 original 20-30lb+ Carp have been complemented by 44 fast growing Fishers Pond strain Mirrors up to 21lb in weight, these will be followed shortly by 26 Scaley mirrors from the Fisheries Carp Rearing facility of averaging approximately 10lbs in weight.
Primarily stocked with Carp plus Rudd, Tench and Perch.
The pit has many underwater features including bars, plateaus, gullies, tree stumps and expansive weed beds. The swims on the lake are very comfortable being formal and constructed to a high standard.
The fish have been fed regularly on pellet since the stocking. A good quality boilie fished with a PVA bag of pellets, on top of a scattering of pellets and boilies was the winning combination on the day of the event.
There is a limit of two rods per angler.
Under 16's must be accompianed by a responsible adult at all times, and cannot be dropped off at the lake to be left unsupervised whilst fishing.
Stock Pit is run as a Day/Night Ticket fishery. Please note all swims MUST be booked in advance by texting the Fishery Bailiff on 07907 212035 or emailing email@example.com.
