Wild Kingdom at Three Mills Green
Come and explore a unique, rustic play space in the heart of east London.
Located at Three Mills Green, Bow, a key part of the 26 mile long, 10,000 acre Lee Valley Regional Park, Wild Kingdom is designed to give children a taste of the countryside by letting their imagination roam free.
With carefully placed fallen trees, nets, ropes and giant tree stumps, branches and hammocks, Wild Kingdom is an urban oasis with natural play at its heart. A traditional maypole swing and trampolines add to the uniqueness of this innovative area where children will also be able to make use of natural materials to build their own dens or create their own playground.
Test your balance on the beams or the stepping logs, navigate your way through the rope canopy, spin in the air on the maypole or just relax on the swings. For younger children there is a small world play area and small boulders to clamber over and for aspiring performers there is a stage built in a natural amphitheatre. The whole family can enjoy Wild Kingdom, giving children and adults a chance to play, explore and have fun in an innovative and inspiring environment.
Working together for Legacy
The £123,000 Wild Kingdom play area was created following a collaboration between Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, The Legacy List and the London Legacy Development Corporation.
The Authority spent a further £50,000 on landscaping at Three Mills Green, which is located just a stones throw from Olympic Park.
Wild Kingdom was formally opened by Michael Rye OBE, vice chair of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority on 24 September 2012.
Wild Kingdom is a pioneering open space, highlighting the Authority’s commitment to running and creating open spaces that give London’s diverse communities a chance to benefit from the great outdoors. In addition to giving youngsters a chance to take part in natural play in the heart of London, it will also be used for a new programme of cultural activities aimed at East London and the surrounding region.
