Explore the great outdoors within River Lee Country Park. Let the kids explore the natural play near Pindar car park where they can climb and play in a natural, safe environment. Or have some fun with your four legged friend and try out the 500m dog agility course of jumps, hoops, high walks and an A-frame near Pindar car park. Why not try disc golf, a fun alternative to golf but without the clubs or balls. Bring the whole family to have an exciting round of disc golf where you throw discs into specially designed baskets. The person who completes the 9-hole course first with the least number of throws is the winner. Disc golf can be found near Lee Valley White Water Centre, you can buy your discs at the centre or at YHA London Lee Valley. Download a score card.
Get the family up and active by trying one of our many walking, cycling or running routes across the park. Take full advantage of the canoe and bike hire at Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows and explore the park by bike or canoe down the River Lee. You can also relax on the river and hire a canoe, pedalo, rowboat or electric boat from Lee Valley Boat Centre. If you’re looking for something more exhilarating try the fantastic activities at Lee Valley White Water Centre including hydrospeeding, hot dog sessions and rafting, a great way to experience the rapids. If you want to sit back and watch the action at this London 2012 venue why not enjoy a bite to eat in the centre’s café and soak up the atmosphere on the terrace that overlooks the course.
There are plenty of places to keep the whole family entertained across River Lee Country Park no matter what the weather. Let the kids run wild at Lee Valley Park Farms, with animals to meet, indoor and outdoor play and fantastic events throughout the year perfect for the whole family. Discover 300 years of explosive history through film, exhibitions and interactive displays at Secret Island-Royal Gunpowder Mills. Where the whole family can learn the role Gunpowder Mill played in both World Wars. Or why not try something different and take a trip to Hoddesdon Model & Railway Club and discover the different types of outdoor model railways. Or if you're looking to relax and enjoy a coffee or savour a tasty bite to eat check out the Old Mill Retreat Cafe over in Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows.
River Lee Country Park is steeped in history and heritage. Enjoy a historic stroll at Waltham Abbey Gardens where information panels help bring the history to life. Explore the Abbey’s tranquil rose gardens and settle down for lunch on one of our picnic tables. Alternatively, you could visit Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadows; wander around this historic site where the original mill once stood.
