From school holiday sessions to after school clubs at Lee Valley VeloPark

Our kids' sessions range from activities from children as young as 2 up to 16 years. They're perfect for those learning to ride a bike, beginners, through to more experienced riders who want to develop their skills with our experienced coaches.

We offer a number of other skills sessions where adult and youth riders train together. For more information on these sessions please see the discipline specific pages.

  • Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a parent / guardian
  • Children aged 12 and over do not require parent / guardian supervision however it is strongly recommended

School holiday sessions

Road Cluster

Road cluster session aimed at Go-Ride club riders of a racing level. A British Cycling Go-Ride coach will be leading the session working on skills and race drills, perfect preparation for the upcoming national circuit series, local circuit racing and RSRs.

BMX Thrills and MTB Skills

Beat the boredom this half term as your kids grab their handlebars, burn rubber and experience cycling like never before!

Riders will improve their skills, learn new techniques and gain confidence on the BMX track and MTB trails.

This school holiday session will have your kids tackling trails and bumping berms!

Your child will learn basic skills, gain confidence in two exciting cycling disciplines and improve their techniques on our mountain bike trails and BMX track.

Besides group development sessions for children, we also offer bespoke 1:1 lessons which are tailored to individual needs. From the basics of learning to ride a bike all the way through to discipline specific skills sessions on our Road Circuit or Mountain bike trails. 

VeloBalance

VeloBalance

These sessions help parents to facilitate their child’s cycling development, building confidence in scooting on a balance bike and progressing to riding without stabilisers. An instructor will be on hand to assist with fun games and activities designed to break up learning to ride into easy to follow steps.

Essential information

 

  • This session is for children that are unable to ride a pedal bike.

  • They’ll use balance bikes which are designed for them to sit comfortably whilst their feet stay in contact with the ground

  • Bikes and helmets are supplied

  • A parent/guardian must remain with their child and be involved throughout the session

  • All participants must come with a signed parental / guardian consent form - otherwise they will not be allowed to participate

If your child has mastered the art of the balance bike through VeloBalance, they can Pedal Up and progress on to pedal bikes.

Using fun games and activities, this session teaches them basic skills for all four of our cycling disciplines for when they’re old enough and tall enough to try them for real.

Indoor pump track

Get the kids tackling our indoor pump track before they try BMX or mountain biking!

These sessions will help young riders stand confidently on the pedals and learn how to negotiate the pump track safely, along with key bike handling techniques.

Come and ride on the Lee Valley VeloPark BMX track after school! Our coaches will help riders with key skills from the basics right up to racing skills each week.  Come and learn the fundamentals of BMX, right up to jumping, manuals, pumping, and key berm skills.

BMX Cluster

The East London BMX Club Clusters are sessions geared to developing expert BMX racers in the region. These race-focused sessions will test riders and push their limits whilst still enjoying the sport of BMX racing. Foundational BMX skills are very much included as well as tactical race training. Run by London Go-Ride Coach Nathaniel Martin. Expert over 10s from any club welcome. Club Cluster Training Sessions are the first steps on the GB Cycling Team Performance Pathway.

Get your kids riding bikes regularly with our Cycling After School Club. These weekly sessions are fun, coach led sessions on mountain bikes on either our road circuit or BMX track. They’ll progress their skills as they practice weekly and have fun cycling with friends.

Whether your child wants to enjoy cycling with friends, make new ones or get into some serious riding, watch them pedal their way to becoming the next Sir Bradley Wiggins or Caroline Buchanan!

Track After School Club

Get the kids active in our boredom busting Track After School Club. Our fully qualified coaches will have them riding fixed wheel bikes confidently as they gain new skills, learn new techniques and make new friends. Groups will be available for complete beginners and more advanced riders.

British Cycling Development Centre

Age 12 - 18 years

Youth B, A and (space permitting Juniors). Riders require track racing experience or accredited to stage 2 or above. These are development sessions run as part of the British Cycling Talent Development pathway for riders aspiring to, or already attending RSR sessions. These run alternate Thursdays until Track League restarts on 18th October in the same Thursday evening slot.

New riders should find their feet at the Monday night After School club, or the Sunday morning Go-Ride clusters when they restart in September.

Youth Track League

The youth track league is organised by The London Youth Track League.

They provide a high quality race environment that challenges young athletes where they can test their performance, regardless of ability level.
