Improve your child's cycling skills with youth and school holiday sessions at Lee Valley VeloPark

Where better to get an introduction to cycling than Lee Valley VeloPark? If you're aged 18 and under our youth sessions are perfect for beginners, through to more experienced riders who want to develop their skills with our experienced coaches.

We offer a number of other skills sessions where adult and youth riders train together. For more information on these sessions please see the discipline specific pages.

  • Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a parent / guardian
  • Children aged 12 and over do not require parent / guardian supervision however it is strongly recommended

School holiday sessions

BMX rider

BMX Thrills and MTB Skills

Beat the boredom this half term as your kids grab their handlebars, burn rubber and experience cycling like never before!

Riders will improve their skills, learn new techniques and gain confidence on the BMX track and MTB trails.

MTB rider

This school holiday session will have your kids tackling trails and bumping berms!

Your child will learn basic skills, gain confidence in two exciting cycling disciplines and improve their techniques on our mountain bike trails and BMX track.

Whether you're a complete track cycling newbie or you've tried track cycling before, learn new skills and follow in the footsteps of Olympic heroes in this two hour session.

This session helps kids build confidence on a bike and gets them riding without stabilisers.

  • This session is for children that are unable to ride a bike.

  • They’ll use balance bikes during the session which are designed for them to sit comfortably whilst their feet stay in contact with the ground

  • Fun games and activities help kids to learn key co-ordination and both off and on-bike techniques which will take them closer to riding a bike with two wheels for the first time!

Pedal Up!

Pedal Up!

If your child has mastered the art of the balance bike through VeloBalance, they can Pedal Up and progress on to pedal bikes.

Using fun games and activities, this session teaches them basic skills for all four of our cycling disciplines for when they’re old enough and tall enough to try them for real.

Indoor pump track

Get the kids tackling our indoor pump track before they try BMX or mountain biking!

These sessions will help young riders stand confidently on the pedals and learn how to negotiate the pump track safely, along with key bike handling techniques.

Get your kids riding bikes regularly with our Cycling After School Club. These weekly sessions are fun, coach led sessions on mountain bikes on either our road circuit or mountain bike trails. They’ll progress their skills as they practice weekly and have fun cycling with friends.

Whether your child wants to enjoy cycling with friends, make new ones or get into some serious riding, watch them pedal their way to becoming the next Sir Bradley Wiggins or Rachel Atherton!

Track After School Club

Get the kids active in our boredom busting Track After School Club. Our fully qualified coaches will have them riding fixed wheel bikes confidently as they gain new skills, learn new techniques and make new friends. Groups will be available for complete beginners and more advanced riders.

These fortnightly sessions will help your child improve their racing tactics, work on key racing techniques and provides them with a day of race training to help them be their best!

Aimed at experienced accredited youth and junior riders, these sessions focus on all track disciplines and training for competition. The structure of these sessions is recognised nationally by the Great British Cycling team performance pathway foundation coaches.

 

Leagues

Youth Track League

The youth track league is organised by The London Youth Track League.

They provide a high quality race environment that challenges young athletes where they can test their performance, regardless of ability level.
