If you've never ridden a road bike or yours has been collecting dust for some time, go back to basics and build your confidence with our new road cycling Pay and Ride package!

There's no need to book, simply check our weekly Pay and Ride timetable below before visiting.

  • You must be able to confidently ride a bike.
  • You’ll need a road bike, with gears, drop handlebars, foot retention, and a helmet.
  • Bikes are available to hire at extra cost.
  • You need to be in Suite 1 by the road circuit dressed to ride 10 minutes before start time.
  • You can join some or all of the training sessions but note that each week will build on the week before.
  • More info about the practice race will be given in the sessions.

Womens Race Training

So you want to race, but you don’t feel ready. What if you could try a ‘practice’ road crit first, with lots of help and advice to help you feel confident? Look no further because we offer that here at Lee Valley VeloPark in collaboration with local women's club Velociposse.

Book onto our five week series of beginner race training sessions, then try out your new skills in the practice race at the end of the series. All fun and no pressure! If you’ve already done a few races but want to learn more, then these sessions are for you too. We focus on ‘race sense’ – there’s more to racing than just being strong.

Get your fellow female cyclists together, meet like-minded women and cycle together. This is an opportunity to exchange tips and experiences with each other and enjoy a morning out on the road.

Afterwards, relax in our Café 42 Degrees for a well-earned break and enjoy a complimentary regular tea or coffee.

Road cyclists

School groups

Sessions are one hour
£110 per hour | £114 per hour from 1 April 2020
Minimum height 4ft 2 ins / 127cm

We run specially priced one hour sessions for schools to give young people their first taste of road cycling.

Schools can book on to a series of one hour, fully coached sessions to progress their skills, ending with structured races.

  • We strongly recommend schools book a Pedal Up session before a discipline specific session for KS1 - KS2 pupils
  • These sessions are suitable for ages 5 - 11
  • All equipment is included
  • Maximum of 15 children per session
  • You must arrive 30 minutes prior to the session time
  • Teachers are not permitted to ride in the session and must act as supervision
  • For the whole group to progress within the session the coach will ensure all children are at a similar basic level. Those who are not may be asked to sit out some sections of the session (and will need to be supervised by a teacher)

Pedal Up school sessions

Sessions are one hour
£110 per hour | £114 per hour from 1 April 2020
Minimum height 127cm / 4ft 2 ins

Pedal Up sessions are the ideal first pedal towards young people riding a bike. Whether they've only recently learnt to ride a bike or want to build confidence - these sessions are a great introduction before going on to develop specific skills for each discipline.

These sessions run by our fully qualified coaches will help children master the FUNdamentals of cycling including basic skills such as cornering, braking and bike handling.

Lee Valley VeloPark is the training and meeting venue of choice for a large number of clubs.

All Ability Cycling

Our All Ability Cycling sessions let anyone have a go at cycling, no matter what their physical or intellectual ability, age or confidence. Lee Valley Regional Park and Bikeworks have partnered to be able to offer endurance training on the road circuit at Lee Valley VeloPark and targeted group sessions in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. For each session participants are asked to meet at Lee Valley VeloPark.

How can I cycle the road circuit?

Taster sessions, skills sessions and pay and ride sessions will be available to allow you to experience this premium road cycling circuit. With bike hire available from the venue and included in our taster sessions there is nothing to stop you from racing round this one mile circuit.

What should I wear?

For road cycling it is mandatory to wear a cycling helmet. This is included in the cost of a taster session or helmets are available to hire from the venue for other sessions.

We recommend the following:

  • Gloves, cycling glasses.
  • Two layers of clothing (preferably close fitting) on your upper body

Can I cycle when pregnant?

Unfortunately we do not allow women who are pregnant to cycle any of our tracks or circuits whilst pregnant.

Essential information

  • For coached sessions you must arrive at least 45 minutes before your session is due to start.
  • Riders must be capable of riding without stabilisers to use the road circuit.
  • Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by parent / guardian to two children.
  • Children aged 12 and over  do not require parent / guardian supervision but this is recommended.
  • Children under 18 participating in any sessions e.g. General Taster Sessions, Youth Taster Sessions, skills sessions, pay and ride (if not under parental/guardian supervision) must bring a signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form with them to be able to participate in their session.
  • Should the child be participating in a ‘coached’ session the parent/guardian should remain in the area indicated by the coach during the safety briefing and/or follow meeting instructions given.
  • Junior prices apply to riders under 18.
  • Equipment hire: Taster sessions include bike and helmet hire, all other sessions do not include any equipment (unless otherwise specified) - you can hire equipment (bike/helmet/shoes) from the venue but you will require personal identification and proof of address (utility, bank or other statements must be less than three months old). The pedals on our bikes are Look Keo, and using your own pedals on hire bikes is not permitted
  • Riders are required to wear helmets and safety equipment while cycling on any of the four circuits at Lee Valley VeloPark. Where this is not included in the session cost you may hire a helmet from the venue. The helmet must be worn correctly at all times when with a bike. If you wish to bring your own it must meet the current UK safety standard - BS EN 1078:1997.
  • Cycling and other activities available at Lee Valley VeloPark carry inherent risks. You should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for your own actions and involvement. If you're unsure whether you are able to participate in any activity, or if you have any questions concerning our terms and conditions, your booking form or the safety and risk declaration, please ask a member of staff before you enter into a contract or agree to partake in cycling at Lee Valley VeloPark.
