FAQ’S - Tennis

What should I wear?

For tennis players, we recommend the following:

  • Clothing: General sportswear should be worn to play tennis.  
  • Shoes: Please wear non-marking shoes, preferably indoor court trainers.

What do I need to bring?

You can bring your own racquet and tennis balls however equipment can be brought or hired at reception if needed. See prices for hiring equipment.

Can I hire equipment?

You can hire a tennis racquet for £3 for the duration of your booking. You can purchase tennis balls at the centre for a cost of £6 per tube of 4 balls.

How long is my session?

Sessions vary depending on coaching courses, matches being played and booking arrangements. All players should be ready to play five minutes before the start of their booking. Sessions will start on time and finish at the agreed times.

How do I book?

There are various ways to book to play tennis:

Casual court hire is also available; please contact us before you set off to check availability. The latest time you can take a court on a casual booking is 15 minutes into the session. Please be aware that your session will still finish on the hour.

Clubs, schools and groups can book for matches and training. Please complete this form to make an enquiry.

How do I get priority booking for tennis?

Register for Priority Membership which allows you to book courts and classes 15 days in advance subject to availability. There is a one-off payment of £50 for this. Apply for a membership now.
Unpaid members and unregistered users can book courts and classes up to 10 days in advance subject to availability.

Where can I park?

We advise travel by public transport, but car parking is available at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre for participants and spectators. Please note that during major events there will be no parking at the venue for the general public.  Plan your visit to Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

FAQs - Hockey

What should I wear?

For hockey players, we recommend the following:

  • Clothing: General sportswear should be worn to play hockey.
  • Shoes: Please wear astro turf or hockey shoes. Trainers aren’t recommended as the wet surface will be slippery. No studded boots or blades.

Hockey pitches are water-based therefore you will get wet during play, so bring a change of footwear and dry clothes to change into after play.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your hockey stick(s) and balls. For beginners’ courses, we’ll provide sticks and balls. If playing in goal, you’ll need goal-keeping kit appropriate to the level of hockey being played.

We recommend gum shields for all players and shin pads and gloves for all outfield players.
