"I just wanted to write and say thank you so much for such a fantastic trip that we enjoyed to the Lee valley centre at the end of the summer term. The year 4 group from Tetherdown Primary School learnt all about the Stone Age period. Our group was led by Simon. He was exceptional, engaged the children in all of the activities and really brought the learning to life. They did a treasure hunt for relevant plants, learnt to light fire and did cave drawings, amongst other activities. Many of us parents have accompanied the children on numerous school trips and we all agreed that this was one of the best. Many thanks"
Oonagh Roy, Parent of Year 4 child/ Tetherdown Primary School

"We had a great time yesterday - thank you very much, not as many birds as we would have liked due to the ice but Jane and Simon provided a great fun learning environment. Thank you.
Sandra McLeod, Mayville Primary School

Every time I spoke to someone from Youth and Schools, they were very friendly and willing to go above and beyond, so thank you once again. I will definately be recommending you to other work colleagues and teacher friends. Well Done!

Environmental impact of Youth & Schools

At Lee Valley Regional Park Youth & Schools Service we understand the importance of sustainability and the environmental impact we have on the world. We are constantly striving to minimise our carbon footprint through a variety of basic, sensible actions such as:

  1. Using only recycled paper for printing.
  2. Recycling our old paper.
  3. Providing recycled pencils to the students who visit us in the park.
  4. Giving recycled prizes such as key rings made from vending machine cups or yoyos made from old CD cases.
  5. Limiting the use of Youth and Schools vehicles by sharing journeys where appropriate.
  6. Offering the use of bicycles to all our staff.
  7. We have an online paperless  comments and feedback system

We encourage respect for the environment in all our programmes through information and practical recycling tasks, we also ensure all litter produced by our students is returned to schools with them to be recycled helping not only the environment but also engendering a sense of ownership of the natural world.
