Myddelton House - Open House
Explore one of the wonderful buildings within Lee Valley Regional Park on this free open weekend. Myddelton House is opening its doors for free as part of Open House London.
Under the Open House London scheme, you can explore the main ground-floor rooms at the 200 years-old Grade II listed mansions which was once home to one of Britain’s most famous self –taught gardeners, artists and expert botanist – Edward Augusts Bowles. The neo-classical, yellow Suffolk stock brick villa features Adam-style ceilings. It was built in 1818 and designed by architects George Ferry and John Wallen.
We invite you to come and delve deep into the history of this remarkable man who dedicated much of his life to transforming the Myddelton House Gardens with his love of unusual and exotic plants.
