Bittern Roost Watch

Join us to find out about these elusive birds and the work happening in the Lee Valley to conserve them. We may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of an elusive Bittern coming into roost in the reed beds from the comfort of the Bittern Information Point.

This event is run as a part of the Hertfordshire Bittern Action Plan.  Events like this are taking place across the county to promote Bitterns and their conservation.

Please bring a torch with you as it will be dark by the time we get back to the car park.

Top tips

  • No experience of bird watching is necessary; staff and volunteers will be on hand to point out the birds

  • Please bring binoculars if you have them

  • Wrap up well, it can get chilly and there will be a certain amount of waiting around in the hide
