A Walk in the Park - A Season of Marshland Medicine with Community Herbalist Hedge Herbs

Experience the healthful bounty of Walthamstow Marshes with local herbalist who knows these lands from the medicinal plant perspective.

With a monthly seasonal herb walk through the spring and summer to find the joy of the wild green spaces and observe how the leaves, buds, flowers and berries rotate through the year offering a variety of food and medicine for our bodies and souls.

You will be guided through plant recognition, folklore & history, traditional & current medicinal uses and responsible ways of harvesting and preparing plant medicines.

Top tips

  • Feel free to being a pen and notebook and/or a camera

  • Bring some water and snacks to keep you going

  • Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead

  • Please wear suitable clothing for the walk

  • Car park charges may apply if your parking at Lee Valley Ice Centre

  • Please note: Plants are not to be picked from the Marshes - the walks are for ID learning

By train: the nearest train station is Lea Bridge Station or Clapton on the Liverpool Street line (both 10 minute walk to Lee Valley Ice Centre)

By bus: buses 48, 55 and 56 stop on Lea Bridge Road outside The Lee Valley Ice Centre

By car: Coppermill Car Park is at the end of Coppermill Lane, E17 7HG Grid Ref: TQ 35027 88030
