Mark Rowley, Lee Valley Regional Park Authority Commercial Development Manager said: “The opening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as a major visitor attraction will further increase the demand for visitor accommodation which is already at a premium in east London.

“The iconic venue is hosting a number of major events this summer and is able to accommodate around 100,000 visitors per day.

“The campsite will significantly contribute to meeting this demand and there are likely to be significant spin offs for the local economy of visitors coming to this area with the visitor economy estimated as worth £16 billion to London a year.”

With 120 pitches, including pre-pitched tents this campsite is a great place to stay, complete with on site facilities: toilets, showers, shop and a café serving full English breakfast and Starbucks drinks as well as other food and beverages.

WaterWorks Centre campsite has superb access into central London, is close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and as well as all the necessary facilities there are also pre-pitched tents available for visitors short on time.

Pitches cost £25 a night for a 6m x 6m pitch or £40 for a pre-pitched tent.

The launch of the new campsite follows the success of the temporary campsite which was hugely popular during London 2012.

Gordon Innes, CEO at London & Partners said, "During London 2012, camping really took off as visitors flocked to the capital to witness the greatest sporting event on the planet, so it's fantastic news to see yet another legacy from the Games stake its claim in the city.

“With so many major sporting and cultural spectacles in London this summer, the Lee Valley WaterWorks Centre is perfectly poised to bring you right into the heart of the action as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park re-opens to a stunning programme of events from July.

“Camping in London ticks all the boxes for a low-cost, green stay in the city and the WaterWorks Centre provides a great addition to London's unique accommodation offering."
