Nature & wildlife

The Lee Valley supports a wide range of wildlife and is easily accessible, making it the perfect place to get up close to some amazing wildlife spectacles.

Over 200 bird species have been recorded in the Valley, of which 150 can be seen every year, including the rare and elusive Bittern. There are also 35 species of mammal, from the secretive Otter to the charismatic Water Vole, a huge variety of insects including over half the UK’s species of dragonfly and over 500 species of plant. There really is something to be seen whatever time of year you visit.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Updated 19 May 2020

We’re reopening all car parks which serve our green spaces seven days a week. With the changes to Government advice on Coronavirus, we feel that this is the right time to reopen them fully. The guidance is still to stay local and, of course, you must follow social distancing when you are out. If an area looks busy please go elsewhere. Our venue car parks remain closed. Details here

Keep safe and stay well.
