Bow Creek Ecology Park & East India Dock Basin

Bow Creek & East India Dock Basin

Bow Creek Ecology Park

Escape to the wild side in London Docklands!

This former ironworks, shipyard and coal wharf is now a real wildlife haven in the urban environment. Bow Creek is a fascinating place to visit any time of year, and one that’s won the prestigious Green Flag Park Award for four years running.

Come and meet the locals – from newts and water scorpions to flocks of wading birds, or just take some quiet time to escape from the hustle of the surrounding city.

There’s even an outdoor classroom for school and youth groups, giving young people an amazing insight into nature, just a short trip from the heart of London.

East India Dock Basin

Within sight of Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena, you’ll discover the old East India Dock Basin, now enjoying a new lease of life as an amazing wildlife sanctuary.

The city high flyers you’ll spot here are Kingfishers, occasional Black Redstarts and nesting Common Terns. Because where once 19th century ships delivered their cargoes, there’s now tranquil open water, wildflower meadows and saltmarsh.

East India Dock Basin is a real gem; a perfect escape from the city for the family and a nature lover’s delight.
