Velodrome Track cost £115 per hour for up to 15 students and includes bike hire, helmet and one qualified coach. We can accommodate 30 children over two separate one hour slots.
BMX / Road Circuit Sessions cost £100 per hour for up to 15 students and includes bike hire, helmet and one qualified coach. We can accommodate 30 children over two seperate one hour slots.
Mountain Bike sessions cost £100 per hour for up to 15 students and include bike hire, helmet and one qualified coach. If there are more than 8 students on a session, a teacher must also ride during the session. We can accommodate 30 children over two seperate one hour slots.
Ages 12 to 18, school years 7 to 13 (min rider height 145cm / 4ft 9in).
Aimed at introducing track cycling to pupils. Students will be taught skills, on both the infield, as well as the Olympic track. All students need basic experience of riding a bike. The coach will be responsible for students on the track, with the school teacher responsible for students on the track centre.
Ages 7 to 18, school years 2 to 13 (min rider height 127cm / 4ft 2in).
Aimed at introducing the exciting sport of BMX cycling to schools pupils. As well as riding on the remodelled BMX track, the secondary practice track can be utilised by students under teacher supervision. All students need basic experience of riding a bike. Students will be supervised by the coach/es on the track, while the rest of the class are supervised by a school teacher.
Mountain bike trails
Ages 10 to 18, school years 7 to 13 (min rider height 135cm / 4ft 5in).
The venue will devise a series of trail sessions which will help students to become safe, competent riders. All students need basic experience of riding a bike. Students will ride with either a coach and/or cycling competent school teacher.
Ages 10 to 18, school years 5 to 13 (min rider height 135cm / 4ft 5in).
Aimed at introducing the skills of road cycling to young people. Depending on the students’ abilities, students can ride in groups or as a single pack. All students need basic experience of riding a bike. Students will ride the circuit with either a coach, and/or cycling competent school teacher.
Skill / bikeability sessions
Ages 11 to 18, school years 7 to 13.
Aimed at beginners and groups of up to 15 students per coach. This session is for students who wish to increase their skills or competency via the use of bikes. These fun sessions will typically involve balance games and challenges that aim to improve bike handling at low speed, whilst challenging the student’s creativity as they contribute to designing the various tasks that they complete. These sessions could be held inside or outdoors accordingly to weather conditions and the venue’s programme.
Beginners within a group taking part in a discipline will be given the opportunity to use strider bikes to start learning how to ride/balance a bike. However, an additional qualified coach and cycling area (£50 per hour) will be required to supervise these sessions.
For some activities students will be spilt into groups.
Where possible the venue will try & secure a volunteer coach but this cannot be guaranteed.
Lee Valley VeloPark education programme
Using the world’s most iconic Olympic cycling venue, this programme is aimed at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Interactive 2 hour guided session and associated resources will use the architecture and design of the Lee Valley VeloPark, the science behind creating one of the fastest tracks in the world and the unique history and development of the site to deliver specific learning outcomes focusing on STEM and Geography. Costs are to be confirmed but proposed per student charges are £4.90 (primary) & £5.50 (secondary), minimum numbers apply. The tour can be combined with one of the cycling disciplines sessions above to create a unique and exciting day trip.
